Dr. Neville Fernandez:

This charming guy who stole my heart could at best be described as a wonderful human being. That’s why I fell in love with him, you see.

Born as Neville Kenneth John Fernandez on the 7th of June to Mrs. Rosaline and Mr. Brinston Fernandez, as their firstborn, he did his schooling in St. Joseph’s, Abudhabi. At the age of seventeen, came down to India after having secured an MBBS seat at the prestigious Manipal University. He excelled in it with flying colours securing distinction in several subjects. Thereafter, he went on to pursue MD in Microbiology at Manipal University which he completed successfully.

Neville’s career began at AJ Institute of Medical Sciences, Mangalore as Assistant Professor. Over these 5 years, he has grown to be an integral part of his department. An excellent teacher, much loved and admired by his students, an astute microbiologist, core member of the Hospital Infection Control Committee (HICC) at A J Hospital and Research Centre, member of the Medical Education Cell, organizer par excellence – Neville has proved to be an invaluable asset with his extraordinary abilities.

Apart from having a keen eye for academics, Neville is passionate about computers. A self taught computer wizard, he is very active on forums and blogs devoted to the cause of promoting LINUX. He has designed websites for others and has his own too – www.neville.in .

A voracious reader, his collection encompasses classic English literature, autobiographies, fiction, theology and philosophy. Not only is he well read, Neville has a ear for music too. He enjoys all genres of music, the favourite artistes being Metallica, Michael Jackson, Guns and Roses and Judas Priest. Believe me, I am not exaggerating when I say that it melts my heart when he croons like Sir Cliff Richard and he’s learning to play the guitar too.

I have known Neville for four and a half years now. The more I’ve learnt about him, the more have I grown to love him with each passing day. Despite being so gifted, Neville is very grounded. Humble and sensitive, patient, understanding, thoughtful and generous to a fault- that’s Neville for you. Most of all, I admire the concern he has for the less privileged and the gentleness with which he treats his subordinates. His colleagues would vouch for his helpful and meticulous nature.

A true gentleman, charming and endowed with a great sense of humour – Neville has been my anchor, critic, guide and friend. I’m glad he walked into my life and I know I’m blessed to be getting married to my first love.
